Bill Yan is a Peranakan Hokkien born in Malaysia.
He has extensive local knowledge of community needs, policy implementation, community development, and engagement, especially for those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Bill is a co-host of a weekly Cantonese community radio program called "Migrants Handbook" in Haymarket. He also is a casual trainer and assessor, teaching the Diploma in Community Services.
Prior to joining PRF, Bill worked as an Operation Manager for a small but effective community centre in the heart of the Waterloo public housing estate. He studied mechanical engineering and was a draftsperson working with a precision engineering multinational corporation in Singapore prior to arriving in Australia.
Bill came to Australia as a mature-aged student after graduating with a Diploma of Business Administration in Singapore. He then studied Psychology and Human Resources Management and has a postgraduate diploma in Counselling.
Outside of work, Bill is an avid black and white photographer. He is also a bunny dad to a lop-eared rabbit named Gertie and appreciates post-impressionist and hyperrealism art.
